OneXtel SMS lets you send one-off messages, personalised sends, and bulk campaigns, with templates, sender IDs, and delivery reporting behind them. Send from the portal, from the API, or from a connected platform. This guide covers SMS in the portal. Signing in, users, API keys, phonebook, blacklist, and account settings are shared across every channel and live under Platform.

Domestic and international

SMS is one product. What changes with destination is compliance, not how you use it — sending, campaigns, templates, and reports work the same either way.
Sending to Indian numbers without DLT registration fails at the operator, not at OneXtel — the message is accepted and then dropped. If you send to India at all, complete DLT registration first.
Destination rules outside India vary widely — sender ID format, permitted content, and time windows all differ by country. Check with your account manager before launching into a new market.

Sending options

Five categories are available under + New SMS: See Send SMS for the first four, and Campaigns for Campaign SMS and campaign management.

Credits

One credit equals one 160-character message. Longer messages are split into segments, and each segment consumes a credit — so a 300-character message costs two, not one. Unicode and multilingual messages segment at a lower character count than plain English, so the same text costs more credits when sent in a non-Latin script. Factor this in when budgeting a multilingual campaign. See Credits for allocation and top-ups.
