# Errors

> HTTP status codes, and why individual messages fail or are skipped.

## HTTP status codes

| Code | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `200` / `201` / `202` | Done. `202` on a send means Truecaller accepted the message |
| `204` | Deleted |
| `400` | The request is invalid. `error` says what, `details` lists validation problems |
| `401` | Missing or invalid `x-api-key` |
| `403` | The key cannot do this |
| `404` | Not found in your workspace |
| `409` | Conflicts with the current state, e.g. launching a campaign that is not a draft |
| `415` | Unsupported file or body type |

## Why a message failed or was skipped

A message's `error` (and the campaign report's `categories`) falls into one of these groups.

| Category | Typical `error` | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| Not on Truecaller | `Truecaller NOT_FOUND` | The number has no Truecaller account or chat is off. Do not retry |
| Opted out | `Opted out` | The person asked not to get these messages |
| Frequency limits | `Limit: 3 promo messages per user per day` | Promotional caps; try another day |
| Missing personalisation | `missing values for: name` | Add the column to the list or a default to the template |
| Invalid number | `Truecaller INVALID_ARGUMENT` | Check the number's format |
| Sender or key problem | `Truecaller UNAUTHENTICATED`, `PERMISSION_DENIED` | Contact your OneXtel account manager |
| Rate limited | `Truecaller RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED` | Sending too fast; it eases on its own |
| Truecaller unavailable | `Truecaller UNAVAILABLE`, `DEADLINE_EXCEEDED` | Temporary; safe to send again later |

Skipped messages (opt-outs and limits) have status `blocked`; the others `failed`.
